Elizabeth McKeever is an artist living in Charleston, SC. After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Master’s Degree in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Elizabeth taught a variety of adult painting and drawing classes at the Gibbes Museum Studio for six years. She was also the first artist in residence for the museum’s Poets and Painters program.
During the filming of the film “The Notebook” she was employed as a painting tutor for actress Rachel McAdams. Currently Elizabeth is the owner of McKeever Fine Art, LLC which provides artwork through the retail website ETSY. Elizabeth also offers specialized art services and decorative painting to the trade.
Elizabeth completed two teaching internships while a graduate student at SCAD and was also an assistant for one of the annual art educators’ forum. She has given lectures and demos for the Gibbes Museum of Art, South Carolina Art Educators, Charleston Artist’s Guild and Seabrook Island Artists’ Guild. She has also served as a juror for the Edisto Art Guild and for the Gibbes Museum of Art’s Poets and Painters Program.
Elizabeth’s work can be found in the collections of Savannah College of Art and Design, the Gibbes Museum Study Collection, Cora Bett Thomas Realty Company of Savannah, interior design firm I.N.T.E.R.I.O.R.S. of Mt. Pleasant and Quinn Williams Design of Mt. Pleasant. While an undergraduate student at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, Elizabeth McKeever (formerly Hodges) was the recipient of a school purchase award, as well as art and academic scholarships. While at Wesleyan her primary painting professor is the now internationally known Scott Duce. She has exhibited in many juried group shows, including one in New York City. She has had two juried solo shows, at the Charleston Public Library and at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Most recently she won a prize to complete a work celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Savannah College of Art and Design.
